Four Sisters Ranch - Zinfandel
When you hear talk of vintages, this is a good example. Called the year of the frost, this Zinfandel from Four Sisters Ranch & Winery really pulled through and wow'd for the end of a year that many were slightly disappointed about. The effect of this sudden spring frost during fruit set was a loss of close to 50% of the vineyards tonnage in Cabernet, Syrah, and Zinfandel. While this doesn't make good for selling grapes, but it can often make a wine with more concentrated flavors and aromas. Instead of these vines putting all their effort into many clusters, this 2011 vintage was one of the limited clusters that allowed for many months of added phenols into the skin.

Aromas of red fruits, strawberries, and stewed cherries. Quite a developed fruit flavor on the taste that is complex and pulls together many different red fruits to showcase as a ripe syrup to a bright red cherry. Of note, a high scoring vintage year that started with a frost concentrating tonnage by over 50%, a main reason for its full fruit flavor. Enjoy!

Aromas of candied red fruits, strawberries, and stewed cherries. Developed fruit flavors and subtle savory noted on the palate. This beautiful interpretation of Zin manages to be dry and complex while still remaining bright and fruity.
